Are you a talented and passionate Humanities teacher looking for a rewarding role in Birmingham? We are seeking a Humanities Supply Teacher to join our SEND team and make a positive impact on the local education community.

About the role

ABC Teachers is a leading education recruitment agency with a passion for making a difference in the lives of students. I am working with a local school in need of long-term Humanities Cover to support students with hearing impairments starting in January. The role would be over five days per week, there are Teaching Assistants that can support the school's policy of total communication, therefore there is not a requirement to have BSL training.

Daily responsibilities include:

Setting, planning and marking work for students.
Delivering lessons to students four days per week.
Managing the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures
Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
Reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the Behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.

About the school

A lovely school centred just outside of Erdington catering to students who are deaf or hearing impaired, the school has a policy of total communication and provides an outstanding learning environment to all students. Staff within the school all strive for a common goal, children are happy and willing to learn, the quality of education is to a high standard and the same is expected of supply staff entering the school. There is onsite secure parking and good public transport links to the school.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Humanities Teacher you will:

Suitable qualification to teach i.e PGCE/BeD, with a valid QTS.
Able to obtain suitable references and a valid DBS check.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Strong subject knowledge and teaching experience.
Excellent classroom management skills.
Experience with SEND students is desired.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
