ABC Teachers is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to work 1:1, full-time with secondary-aged students in a Specialist SEMH school. This is not a classroom assistant role — this is a frontline, relationship-based position where consistency, presence, and mental toughness matter.
About the role
-
1:1 Behaviour & Emotional Support
Working intensively with one student to support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement with learning. -
De-escalation & Emotional Coaching
Helping students manage anger, frustration, and anxiety using calm authority and clear boundaries. -
Behaviour Tracking & Pattern Recognition
Identifying triggers, flashpoints, and warning signs to reduce incidents and improve outcomes. -
Consistency & Presence
Being the reliable, grounded adult who shows up every day — no rotation, no distractions. -
Building Confidence & Independence
Celebrating progress (even the small wins) and helping students develop self-belief and self-control.
This role can be challenging, intense, and emotionally demanding — but it is also one of the most rewarding roles in education.
