ABC Teachers are seeking a skilled and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to work within an SEN school in Birmingham, part of the Think Differently Education Trust (who we are proud to be working with as a Managed Service Partner)
About the role
A Behaviour Support Assistant plays an important role in promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils who may experience social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. They work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies, reinforce expectations, and help create a calm, safe learning environment. This may involve supporting pupils during lessons and less structured times, modelling positive interactions, and helping young people develop self-regulation skills so they are ready to learn.
Alongside behaviour support, the role also includes key Teaching Assistant responsibilities. This can involve working one-to-one or with small groups, adapting learning activities, supporting pupils with additional needs, and helping teachers deliver personalised lessons. By combining academic support with consistent pastoral guidance, the Behaviour Support Assistant helps remove barriers to learning, build resilience and confidence, and ensure pupils are able to make meaningful progress during their time at the Academy.
