ABC Teachers are seeking a Qualified English Teacher to work within SEND and Alternative Provision Settings.
About the role
An English teacher supporting students with additional needs must possess a versatile skill set tailored to meet the diverse learning requirements of their students. Proficiency in English language and literature is paramount, along with the ability to adapt curriculum content to accommodate varying comprehension levels and learning styles. Exceptional communication skills are essential for effectively conveying concepts, providing feedback, and facilitating discussions in ways that are accessible and engaging for students with additional needs, including those with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of individual student needs are crucial for building rapport and fostering a supportive learning environment. Additionally, creativity in lesson planning and resource development is essential to provide differentiated instruction and accommodate diverse learning preferences. Collaborating with support staff, parents, and specialists ensures a holistic approach to student development and support. Ultimately, a commitment to promoting literacy, communication skills, and confidence in every student lies at the heart of the English teacher's role in this context.

By creating nurturing and inclusive environments, these schools empower students to overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve their full potential in both their academic and personal development journey.
