ABC Teachers are seeking a skilled and dedicated Tutor to work within SEN schools in Birmingham.

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential? Join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our pupils.

About the role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be responsible for maintaining excellent standards of teaching and learning, supporting pupil progress, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

You will provide in person Maths, English, or Science tuition to students aged between 11 to 16 with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs.

You will also provide calm, consistent support to pupils with autism and other complex needs, helping to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.

About the school

  • A supportive school for students aged 11-19 who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to challenging behaviour, ASC, or other complex needs.
  • Focused on promoting positive outcomes, emotional stability, and long-term success for all learners.
  • Offers a broad, balanced, and personalised curriculum, taught by experienced subject specialists in small, structured environments.
  • Committed to empowering students to lead in their own development — fostering resilience, inclusivity, and high expectations across the school community.
  • Proud of its strong ethos, values, and dedication to pupil wellbeing.
  • Driven by the belief that every young person can achieve — the school promotes innovation, optimism, and ambition for both students and staff.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN Tutor you will:
  • Hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour, SEMH or ASC.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
ABC Teachers is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
