About the role

As a Lesson Support Assistant, your primary responsibility is to empower each young adult to achieve their full potential within a multicultural and inclusive educational setting. In this role at a college in Harborne, Birmingham, you will work closely with students aged 16-25 with physical and learning disabilities. Your tasks will include assisting in the delivery of lessons, personalizing learning experiences to meet individual needs, and supporting students in a variety of subjects, engaging activities tailored to their interests.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Lesson Support Assisatant you will:
  • It is essential that you have experience working with people who have Special Educational Needs, Physical Disabilities or Behavioural Difficulties.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate (on the update service) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Other qualifications to work with young people and support students with SEND is not essential but desirable.
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to quickly build a rapport with students and staff alike.
  • Be able to successfully work as part of a team and be confident to work independently and manage behavioral challenges.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • experience or a relevant qualification for working with young adults with physical and learning disabilities.
