About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Subject Specialist Teacher to join our team, delivering high quality lessons to students with a range of special educational needs, including medical and mental health needs. This role requires a teacher who can plan and deliver accessible, engaging, and differentiated lessons that meet students at their point of learning, often in small group or one-to-one settings.

As part of a collaborative and supportive staff team, you will also contribute to wider curriculum planning, assessment and pastoral support, ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to reach their potential.

About the school

We are a multi-site academy based in Birmingham, delivering education to young people with a diverse range of medical, emotional and mental health needs. Our pupils often face complex barriers to learning, and we provide a flexible, personalised approach to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Our ethos is to "Think Differently", creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where young people are at the heart of everything we do. Staff work collaboratively across specialist settings, combining high expectations with compassionate, responsive teaching.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dedicated team making a real difference in the lives of pupils who require innovative, adaptive approaches to learning. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, tailored to individual needs, and supported by a strong commitment to staff development and wellbeing.

  • Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
  • Suitable qualifications – must hold a QTS or PGCE.
  • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

ABC Teachers is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously.
