Are you an experienced Art and Design & Technology Technician looking for a long-term role in a creative and forward-thinking secondary school?

About the role

ABC Teachers are currently recruiting for a reliable and knowledgeable Art / DT Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in King’s Heath from September 2025. This is a long-term supply position, expected to continue until the end of the academic year (July 2026).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials and equipment for practical Art and DT lessons

  • Maintain and organise tools, machinery, and resources in a safe and efficient manner

  • Assist teaching staff during practical sessions

  • Support students with projects, ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed

  • Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on equipment

  • Manage stock levels and place orders when needed

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Art / Design and Technology Technician you will:
  • Previous experience working as a technician in a school environment (essential)
  • Knowledge of Art and Design & Technology tools, processes, and materials
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures in a school workshop/studio setting
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting staff and students
  • Ability to obtain suitable references, a valid DBS Check and hold the Right to Work in the UK (ABC Teachers do not offer sponsorship)
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • experience in a similar position and referenceable experience within the last 5 years.
