National Tutoring Programme

National Tutoring Programme (NTP)

Tes' supply agencies (Vision for Education, ABC Teachers and Smart Teachers) are an approved Tutoring Partner for the National Tutoring Programme (NTP).

The NTP will provide additional support to schools to help disadvantaged pupils whose education has been most affected by school closures.

The NTP was developed to support schools in responding to the immediate challenge of school closures due to the coronavirus pandemic and to provide a longer-term contribution to closing the attainment gap.

As an approved Tuition Partner, schools can purchase 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 face-to-face and online tutoring through us in blocks of 15 hours. The tutoring is subsidised by 75%.

Are we required to charge VAT on our educational services?
Yes

How many schools can we work with?
17,850 pupils in approximately 2,000 schools.

Who are our tutors?
Fully qualified and vetted primary, SEND and secondary subject specialist teachers, with in-depth knowledge and experience of the national curriculum.

How do we recruit our tutors?
Our rigorous recruitment processes are in-line with Department for Education and REC guidelines. We obtain a CV, conduct a face-to-face interview and complete right to work, qualifications, photo ID, address, Children’s Barred List, enhanced DBS (must be registered with the Update Service), TRA, employment history, reference and medical checks.

How do we train our tutors?
All our tutors are fully qualified teachers and have recent experience of teaching the national curriculum. Tutors receive a thorough induction to the NTP before commencing sessions, which includes specific training on:

  • planning 1-2-1 and small group sessions
  • adapting to online tuition
  • creating session content, and
  • giving and receiving feedback.

How will we communicate with you?
Schools will have a designated consultant to manage all bookings. Booking confirmations will be sent immediately with a secure online link to tutors’ safeguarding information. Consultants are available around-the-clock by phone or email. They’ll also assist with any system training and arrange weekly calls and regular meetings to review performance.

How will we keep track of pupil progress?
Schools would provide tutors with attainment levels data for each student. We would provide schools with weekly quantitative reports on the number of sessions delivered, duration and attendance, and a weekly qualitative report for each student including information about their engagement levels, session objectives and outcomes and other general feedback.
