St Albans School is a leading independent day school with an outstanding reputation for academic excellence. We are seeking a professional, outgoing and positive individual with a “can do” mindset that can provide full and effective secretarial and administrative support to the Second Master and other members of the School’s Senior Leadership Team. Duties include managing large tasks and projects, including organising and overseeing high profile School events, Safeguarding and compliance tasks, welcoming and dealing with staff, external visitors, and VIP’s, along with being involved in School and wider community events. Working in conjunction with the Head’s PA, the SLT Secretary ensures the smooth and efficient running of the Senior Leadership Team/School House office.

The successful candidate will have extensive secretarial and administrative experience, ideally gained within a school environment.  They will be highly organised, with strong attention to detail, the ability to take initiative and to work autonomously and without detailed direction. The role requires a calm and confident approach along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism on sensitive issues. Also essential are proficient typing skills and strong experience with MS Office applications and information databases.

Hours are full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, full year.  Occasional evening working is required when overseeing School events.  The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
