ABC Teachers are working on behalf of a 2 form entry primary school who is seeking to employ an experienced Year 3 SEN TA to work 2 days a week supporting a child with ASD. This role is to start ASAP until the end of the academic year, working on a Thursday and Friday in the first instance. With there being an element of special needs, it could become a full-time position on an ongoing basis.
You will be working on a one to one basis supporting a child with ASD. The pupil in question is not aggressive nor badly behaved, however he does find it difficult to keep on task so in turn needs someone that is firm but fair. There are provisions that have been put in place to allow the child to enjoy his time within school. There is a separate area that has been allocated where he can use lego therapy and have time out. The ideal candidate will know exactly when this pupil needs time out and when he needs to be kept on task.
The ideal candidate will:-
· Be able to provide 2 educational references in the last 2 years
· Have a current DBS on the update service, or be willing to complete a new one
· Qualified to a minimum level 3 in support and teaching
· Experience working with Autism
· Flexible and adaptable
· Over 2 years’ experience and have worked in the last 6 months
· Located on Tipton, this makes it an easy commute for both drivers and non-drivers with links from the M5 and M6. The local public transport routes are very frequent in and around the area. This would be the ideal position for someone that is situated in Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall.
