A Cover Supervisor is a relatively new role within Secondary Schools that come about from the "Remodelling of the School Workforce".
The premise of a school cover supervisor is to free up teacher time by administering lessons on behalf of the teacher.
We are looking for cover supervisors to join our team of supply team and work in schools around the West Midlands and East Midlands.
What experience do I require?
There are no formal qualifications to become a cover supervisor instead you need to be able to show the ability to be able to cope with classroom management by working in a similar environment before.
Additionally you require being able to show an aptitude for common sense, confidence and engaging personality.
Before applying for a post of a Cover Supervisor we recommend that you contact a local school to spend a few days observing classes. Most schools are more than happy to do this!!!
Successful cover supervisors have come from a variety of background, including:
- Graduate keen to work in schools.
- TA's with experience and confident in their ability to carry out the role
- Adults with experience in other public service area - Police, MoD, Social Care
- Adults with experience of working in schools or children's groups - dance teachers, coaches, dinner supervisors, exam invigilators, scout leader, etc etc
- HLTA (Higher level teaching assistants)
